Our LP LIne of Black Coppers(Brown Red) Marans (Ebba and Jaber) were featured in the FFV magazine in February 2011.
Now we know that the French call them Champions over there but here in the USA we know that as of this date that Marans breeders can't be Champions in a APA sanctioned show. But we still feel it is an honor to have our birds at least recognized with the French. We translated the article to English.
LP's Brown Red Marans are Pure French Marans. Bred to the Brown Red French Standards. Not to the USA Black Copper Standards. This will remain a closed flock until further notice.
Looks like we are going to get lucky in building our LP Line stock up for Spring of 2011. The two pullets are laying and the hatch rate seems to be good. They girls don't lay every day this time of year, but every egg in going into the incubator. I can sure see the difference between the LP line and the Jeane line.
We have received our first pullet egg from our new LP line. We will be focusing on getting our numbers up with in our flock. One pullet and cockerel will be going to the HOTOPA show in November and we will present photos of the birds then on this site.
We have another pullet to start laying very soon. Wish us luck to what her egg will look like.
We will never introduce any other USA line into our starter LP birds. This is a promise we have made from day one to all our marans friends.
Some people ask why we don't use the new blood to enhance the other lines here in the USA. This will be inevitable soon enough after the birds are released to the public. This home base will be established as maintaining the original starter birds and their offspring.
We are very grateful for this opportunity to have these birds and will honor their heritage breed. We want to share these birds with marans enthusiasts that have the same goals.
More coming soon.
These are are starters for the new second half of the LP line of Marans. Each has its' own characteristics so we are hoping to be able to balance out the breeding with them. They are 3 months old in these first pictures. This give us 3 different lines and none are related to any USA line or to each other. These two lines below will be closed flocks until we discover what they are going to produce.
